We've been working hard to improve upon our previous titles Knighturn and Swords & Earrings and have done plenty of changes. Many of them are based on the great user reviews we've been receiving over the past months.
Technology - Fullscreen scaling for all phone and tablet types was mentioned in our blog post already. On top of that you can zoom in and out of the battlefield which basically means that you can see larger parts of the battlefield on devices with a higher screen resolution.
Graphics & Sound - The artwork of our previous titles has been rather basic. Nothing to deny here. For Kingturn we have teamed up with several top notch artists to give you all the eye and ear candy you need.
Improved UI - Plenty of minor changes should make the user interface much more intuitive and enjoyable. Especially worth mentioning are a very smooth scrolling and a better visualization which parts of the display the user can interact with.
Combat Pace - The user interface is not entirely blocked during an attack animation any longer. You can scroll or start another character's move in the meantime already. Thus, your unit moves can be done faster than before.
World Map - Like before, new scenarios are enabled once the player makes progress within the game. Instead of just picking the next scneario from a list, there's a nice world map available now.
Difficulty - According to our feedback, many players considered Sw&Ear and Knighturn as too difficult, at times even unfair. We gave this issue a lot of thoughts and came up with the following solution:
Defeated opponents will not be replaced by respawns automatically all the time. Instead we have introduced a Respawn probability. You can think of it as a dice roll that has to confirm each spawn at enemy barracks. For each defeated opponent the respawn probability decreases. On the other hand, at each end of turn the respawn probability increases slightly. This basically simulates a simliar resource limitation the player has to deal with (wounded troops).
We have also overhauled our difficulty settings and split them into 5 categories: Casual, Normal, Strategist, Master and King. The default difficulty Strategist should be especially enjoyable for those who have played one of our previous titles already (Knighturn or Sw&Ear).
If you haven't played any of our previous titles before, you might want to set the difficulty to Normal instead.

Elite units - Elite units bring a whole new dimension to the game play. They are visually marked with a yellow star and are stronger than standard units. The strength of an elite unit can range from slightly stronger to much stronger (bosses). The player also has elite units available, e.g. the main characters.
Most enemy elite units are preset for a scenario but they can also spawn randomly on the battlefield.
The chance of a random elite spawn depends on the difficulty setting.
Elite units drop rare items more frequently than standard units.
Characters & Skills - We have overhauled, polished and balanced all character classes and most of the skills. There are 6 entirely new character classes (Priest, Summoner, Trickster, Charlatan, Griffin, Ghost) and a couple of new skills (Ally Call, Cure, Confusion Shot, Purse Shot, Stealth Shot).
We have also introduced passive skills that additionally increase a character's attributes at specific levels (Mobility, Precision, Toughness, Vitality, Willpower, Wisdom, Brutality).
Last but not least, we have added more variety to our AoE patterns (In Knighturn and Sw&Ear we only had a Single-Target and a Cross-Pattern).
Gameplay Mechanics - Conquering barracks will now increase / decrease the corresponding faction size only by 1 unit (in our previous titles it was 2). Thus, the loss of one of your own barracks has less fatal consequences while capturing one or two opponent barracks doesn't guarantee a victory too early on.
Items - In addition to standard items (yellow) and rare items (blue), we have added legendary items (purple) that are even more powerful than rare ones. Legendary weapons, for example, are based on holy damage that cannot be resisted via Phyisical Defence (DPHY), Magical Defence (DMag) or Bow Defence (DBow). Only Elite Units can randomly drop legendary items. Otherwise, a legendary item might be granted as a scenario reward or even store in a treasure chest.
Enemy AI - We have improved the Artificial Intelligence once more in many ways. Expect the opponents to act smarter and meaner than ever before.
